The “tubes”, as you call them, look like standard watch spring bars, a tried-and-true method of connecting watch bands.  Nothing special or unusual.

Hello.  Great review and a major reason why I purchased this band from your suggested seller.  I have a question, though – I’ve read a few comments in the MacRumors forum where you posted your review that the link pins are failing.  Some have failed and disconnected an adjustable link, causing the whole watch to fall and one has even reported a pin that isn’t on an adjustable link – second down from the adapter – that has failed and caused the band to fall off of the wrist.  Have you heard anything similar or experienced it yourself?  Also, could you tell me the thickness of the spring bars used in the links?  For example, the standard is 1.8mm in diameter, a lot are even 1.5mm, but I’m thinking that this one could be thinner – perhaps 1.27mm or 1.3mm.  Would you be able to confirm?

Thanks for this post and I await your reply.
